Ghana 10 Day Coastal Cycling Tour
Itinerary
Day 1: Welcome to Ghana
Arrived at Kotoka International airport you will go through all formalities and after you have come out from the immigration you will be met by a guide. Should it be that your flight arrives at night there will be snacks waiting to fill any stomach. We will get on our bus and drive straight to our hotel for the night. We would not spend much time on briefings and allow you to check in and settle for the night. We will have welcome drinks in the evening where we get to meet our in country trip leaders as well as everyone on this trip with us.
Day 2: Explore Accra
Your first day in Ghana, we will head into Accra, Ghana’s capital. We will spend the day exploring Accra. We will visit the Independence Square, the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum which is the final resting place of the first president of Ghana. We will also visit the Makola market depending on how we feel. We will have lunch and head back to our hotel where we can relax and prepare ourselves for our cycling adventure in the next days.
Day 3: Arrive in Elmina
Arrive in Elmina today. Check in your accommodation. Prepare and get yourself ready for the bike tour for the next few days.
Day 4: Explore Elmina
We will depart shortly after breakfast. We will explore Elmina, Ghana’s top most historical town on bike. We will visit the Elmina Castle – the oldest and largest European building in existence below the sub-Sahara. From here we will proceed on cycling and exploring other wonderful sites around the ancient community. We will check in our accommodation before its night and spend the rest of the day around a pool. We will have dinner around a campfire.
Day 5: Explore Salt ponds and bird watching sites
We will have a very relaxing morning on the beach and depart late morning. Today we will explore the salt ponds and learn about how salt is traditionally mined. We will also visit bird watching sites and learn about different species of West African birds. We will have lunch and go on a dugout canoe tour on the Benya mangroves.
Day 6: Cycle to Kakum
Cycle to Kakum We will depart shortly after breakfast and head to Kakum Rain forest and Canopy Walk. We will cycle using off-roads through a few villages and communities. In reaching Kakum we will have lunch and explore the canopy walk. We will spend the rest of the day at our accommodation getting ready for a night. hike and nature walk in the rain forest.
Day 7: Drive to Buture
We will proceed to the next leg of our journey. We will go to the Western Region of Ghana. We will stop at Butre, a village on the beach in the Ahanta West. We will have lunch and go on a boat trip on the Butre River. We will have a bonfire night and dinner on the beach.
Day 8: Cycle to Busua via Dixcove
We will cycle through to Busua to Dixcove where we visit Fort Metal Cross very popular trading point; here we will have a tour at Fort Metal Cross. After the tour we will cycle to Busua where we spend the rest of the day on the beach and surfing.
Day 9: Cycle to Akwidaa
We will have an early departure and head to Akwidaa on our bikes. En route we will visit the rubber plantations and learn about the growth of rubber trees, and its socio economic important to the country. From here we will proceed on to Akwidaa where we check in our beach house. We will have lunch and get ready to go for a boat cruise on the Akwidaa Lagoon Mangroves; here we stand the chance of seeing different species of West African birds and monkeys. We will get back to the lodge before dark. After dinner, we will go for a turtle hike supporting the turtle conservation project in the Western Region.
We will arrange for you to go get your Covid-19 testing so you can depart
Day 10: Explore Akwidaa & Cape Three Point
Explore the village of Akwidaa and Cape Three Point – Ghana’s most southermost point.
Head to the airport to depart home
The above tour itinerary is provisional and can be modified if necessary to meet the need of the clients. The rooms’ availability in the proposed lodges will be confirmed at the time of reserving the tour with us. Reserving early is recommended especially for the arrivals in high seasons for the sake of rooms’ availability. Prices may change depending on the entry fees to parks or if any of the accommodations increase their prices, you will be notified in advance if any of these occurrences take place.
